Midge Pack – 24 Midges for Winter & Tailwaters
$24.00
When the water is cold and clear and the fish have seen everything, small flies catch fish. Midges hatch year-round and are often the main thing trout eat in winter and on tailwaters below dams. This pack has 24 midges in the patterns and sizes that keep you catching when the big flies stop working.
Picked by a professional fly fishing guide. Every fly in this kit earned its spot on real guide trips: these are the patterns we tie on for clients day after day, in the sizes trout actually eat. No filler flies, no colors that only catch fishermen.
What's inside
| Pattern | Hook sizes | Flies | When to fish it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zebra Midge, Black | 18, 20 | 6 | The go-to midge larva. Simple, slim and deadly. |
| Zebra Midge, Red | 18, 20 | 6 | Bloodworm color for stained water and fussy fish. |
| Disco Midge | 18, 20 | 6 | A touch of flash to get noticed in clear water. |
| Griffith's Gnat | 18, 20 | 6 | Dry fly for trout sipping midge clusters on the surface. |
How to use it
- Drop it: tie a Zebra or Disco Midge 12–18 inches below a larger nymph or a small dry fly.
- Go light: 5X or 6X tippet helps these small flies drift naturally.
- Watch for rings: if fish are dimpling the surface but you see no bugs, it's usually midges. Switch to the Griffith's Gnat.
- Best seasons: late fall through early spring, and all year on tailwaters.
A natural add-on to the Dry Fly or Nymph Collection, and the pack you'll be glad you have on the coldest days of the year.
